The History

The Resolution of Council of Ministers of USSR on the building in Kyiv the Republican agricultural exhibition was signed in 1949. It was being built on the place of a small suburban village (hutorok) Chervoniy traktyr. The building was started in 1952 and continued 6 years.
The official opening of the exhibition was on the 6th of July 1958.
The projection of the exhibition was carried out by the institute “Dypromisto”. The best artists and designers of the republic were involved in the design of the pavilions.
At that time such pavilions were in the structure of the exhibition: the Main, “Machine-building and instrument-making”, “Coal, oil-and-gas and metallurgical industry”, “Energetics and electrification”, “Building and industry of building materials”, “Plastic and polymer materials”, “Agriculture”, “Cereals and oil cultures”, “Industrial crops”, “Cattle breeding”, “Vegetable-growing, gardening and viticulture”, and also pavilions of a full-size demonstration of cattle-breeding. In time the pavilions were built Згодом були побудовані павільйони “Coal industry” with a model of the functioning mine, “Periodical exhibitions”, “Mechanization and electrification of agriculture”, “Consumer goods”, “Sea resources”, organized pavilions “Folk education” and “Visual agitation”.
Before the opening the Republican agricultural exhibition was renamed in the Exhibition of advanced experience in agriculture of USSR. During its activity the Exhibition changed its name for several times: the Exhibition of the achievements of agriculture, the Center of exhibitions and fairs of Ukraine, the National exhibition center of Ukraine and, at last, the National Complex “Expocenter of Ukraine”.
During the Exhibition activity such prominent people of the world visited it: Vietnam leader Ho She Min, the President of France the General De Golle, the UN Secretary General U Tan, the President of Yugoslavia Broz Tito, the Prime-Minister of India Shastri, the Prime-Minister of Great Britain Margaret Thatcher and others.
The Exhibition was the organizer of all expositions, devoted to significant dates in the life of the country and its people, and of many prestige expositions abroad – in  Leipzig, Montreal, Brno, Hannover and Moscow.
